Victor Skaar

Victor Skaar, a 48 year veteran of Hanson-Lien American Legion Post 368, passed away on 4 August 2026. His obituary reads as follows:

Victor Bert Skaar, USAF CMSgt (Ret.) age 89, of Nixa Missouri, passed away on August 4, 2026. Victor was born to Bert O. Skaar and Borghild Skaar (Dahl) on November 12, 1936, in Taylor WI. Vic was united in marriage to Maria (Rietje) Beck on March 4, 1958 in Den Haag, Holland.

Vic proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 27 years; retiring on July 31, 1981; with an honorable discharge. His long military career included duty in Veterinary, Public Health, Air Force Recruitment, Overseas Armed Forces Courier, Loadmaster with C 141, C5 and C130 aircraft; retirement from Little Rock Air Force Base C 130 2nd MAPS as the NCO in charge of Operations.

Vic was finally able to finish his BS in Aviation Administration after retirement; he earned his Master of Aviation Management in 1989.

There followed careers with the Honeywell Corp in New Mexico, then back into Public Health in Clark County, Nevada. Retiring from these positions, he set up as a consultant to small business in recycling/waste industries.

Vic was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John and Edwin. He is survived by his loving wife, Rietje, by his son Vic Skaar (Donna) and his daughter Becky (Jim Hiltabidle). He is also survived by siblings, Berniece Crogan, Beatrice Berg, Daryl Skaar (Nancy), Gary Skaar and Enid Bahnub (Jeff). Vic was a proud Opa to Maria King, Daryl King (Ashley), Peyton Skaar and Chloe Skaar. Big Opa to Riley and Lilly King.

Memorial arrangements are pending; following a Memorial Service at First and Calvary Presbyterian in Springfield scheduled for Friday,  August 14, 2026 at 2 pm, final interment will be in Hixton WI.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation to The Least of These, a local charitable organization.
